Culver City Cowboys Pop Warner is seeking coaches for the 2024 Pop Warner Season. Please pass this on to anyone that you know who might be interested.
All coaches belonging to a “POP WARNER” affiliation must be certified and/or have a certificate of training. In order to meet this requirement, Culver City Pop Warner has teamed up with USA FOOTBALL to become certified in Heads-Up. In addition to your commitment in coaching for Culver City Pop Warner, the league will pay for your training to become certified through Heads-Up Football.
The goal for all of us is to ensure that all Pop Warner coaches are certified by USA Football to teach proper blocking and tackling techniques in a better and safer way.
All Pop Warner coaches (head and assistants) must complete the USA Football Level 1 Coach Certification Course annually.
New coaches take the full USA Football Level 1 Course and previously certified coaches take the Re-certification Quiz.
Most courses can be taken online at your leisure: Level 1 (approx. 2hrs), Re-Cert (approx. 30mins).
All coaches attend a Heads Up Coaches Clinic (locally) led by Southern California Conference Player Safety Coach (PSC)
All coaches will have to clear a live scan (at your own expense) and a Megan's law background check.
All parents and players attend a Heads Up Safety Clinic led by our Coaches.

Welcome to the Culver City Youth Football. Our staff has been bringing outstanding football to the youth of Culver City for over 14 years! As members of the Los Angeles County Pop Warner organization, where character, academics and athletics come together. We look forward to continue our work with the youth of our community. Here is to a fantastic 2023 season!
Pop Warner football has been around since the inception of the league in 1929 by founder Joseph J. Tomlin as a four-team conference in Northeast Philadelphia. Since then, participation has steadily increased to today's record numbers. Over 250,000 youths participated in Pop Warner-sanctioned football programs in 2010, and those numbers are continuing to grow. SAFETY FIRST:Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the ONLY youth football program (local, regional and national) that sets and enforces a strict AGE that reduces the risk and reality of injuries. Did you know that Pop Warner football is safer than soccer?
THE AGE MIS LOCATED IN THE IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS TABS TO THE RIGHT.
Pop Warner football has 12% fewer injuries per capita among 5-15 year olds than organized soccer in the same age range! (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, NEISS)WHY THERE ARE NO PERSONAL STATISTICS: Pop Warner exists to use football, cheerleading, dance and a respect for education to develop strong, smart, responsible, healthy young men and women. We give them experiences that build their appreciation for and understanding of leadership, teamwork, and discipline. While individual statistics may be more common, particularly among older football players, Pop Warner only recognizes the athletic accomplishments of the team, not the individual. We don't track personal tallies of touchdowns or yards rushing per game. We don't count sacks or blocked kicks. We applaud the athletic efforts of the team to reinforce the importance of teamwork, with each member. We don't try to build stars. We don't want to over-inflate a young ego, nor do we want to risk injuring the self-esteem of a young person. Whether our kids have good days or bad, they are still an integral part of our team…and always will be.
CPR & FIRST AID CERTIFICATION
Pop Warner rules require that “All practices must be attended by one person holding a Red Cross Community CPR and a First Aid certification OR National Center for Sports Safety PREPARE Certificate of Completion, or equivalent, if not by an EMT or volunteer physician.” In the absence of a specialized, trained person affiliated with the team in the medical area (physician, paramedic, specially trained volunteer, Certified Athletic Trainer), Culver City Youth Football & Cheer requires the Head Coach as well as an Assistant Coach to be the holders of a current Red Cross Certificate in Community CPR and First Aid, or the P.R.E.P.A.R.E. Course by the National Center for Sport Safety or its equivalent.
MANDATORY BACKGROUND CHECKS
The Culver City Cowboys organization is concerned about the safety of our participants and does not want to put any of our participants in harms way. ALL coaches and badged personnel are required to be LiveScanned in order to be on the field with our players, for the safety of our participants. Those that have not submitted to a LiveScan background check are NOT allowed to be on the field at practices or games, at all, ever, NO EXCEPTIONS.
